I Believe in Family! by Christina Miller

I was a person that complained about my family often throughout the years. I was one of those people that rarely looked at the good things about a family, but usually just the bad. Many times I thought that they were there just to get me in trouble, tell me what to do, and try to ruin my life. I was wrong. Now, I believe in family!

I wasn't until the 12th grade at Seward High School, looking for a college to go to after graduation, did it occur to me that a family is more. They are there for us more then just to tell you when to come home and what to wear. There are there to help with the good, the bad, to try and figure out what we are going to do with our lives, and any other way that they can think of to help us out.

Before this year I did not get a long with my family. We always would fight all the time and did not agree with anything. I always felt that they were against me. I thought they were just trying to make my life harder and more stressful. They failed to explain why they would make decision that they would about me. Usually this would not work? They were making my life harder and more stressful, especially with three teenagers in my house.

But something changed this year. They weren't so hard on me and they gave me more privileges. I got to hang-out with friends more and we started to agree on things or at lest try to compromise on things. They even worked on trying not to get me so stressed out and now they explain why they made the decision that they do. We now communicate and that is so important. That's why I believe in Family!
