I Believe in Technology by Alex Koehler

When I was younger, I was fascinated with technology. I wanted to get my hands on every type of technology out there. Back then it was CD and cassette players, the newest VHS, and every computer game imaginable. Now days, it's the newest iPod, Facebook, and online shopping. Computers provide people with modern conveniences that help run our country each and every day of the year. Here are just a few reasons why I believe in technology.

Back in the 90's, the decade I was born, the thing to have was a cassette player. Sony Walkmans were the hottest item on the market. Remember tickle-me-elmo? Lines were out the doors trying to get that hot item just like they were for the walkman. Then CD players came out. CD's provided better quality music, but had a higher cost. Slowly but surely, the CD player took over the music industry. CD s are still used today, but digital music then came into the scene, with a file of music called MP3s. IPods, a form of an MP3 player, were the new thing to have. Playing digital music loaded from your computer bought from online stores. In a little bit more than 12 years, the music industry made 2 drastic changes. Technology is an ever changing thing that continues to surprise people. I believe in technology because it has helped the creation of the internet.

Technology runs everyone's lives these days. It helps all American s become successful. Technology most of all creates jobs. Google, Apple, Microsoft, YouTube, Facebook and blogger are some of the most popular technology related companies. If not for technology, think about the millions of employees who don t have those jobs. Of those companies, a majority of them were started because of the internet. Those industries are the backbone of the internet, something we use nearly every day. I believe in this because it simplifies everything. Information is always at your fingertips. It is so thrilling to me to be able to find information on just about anything, by simply typing a few things in. The internet has a nearly infinite amount of information that continues to surprise all of us.

What is it about technology that I love so much? Everything about it! Technology has an endless amount of possibilities including a career that I look forward to experiencing for the rest of my life. I believe everyone should have a deep appreciation for what technology has done for our society in general. Think back one, two, five years ago and think about how much has changed since then. Technology has kept going and will be one of the main factors in the future of our world. If I find something on the internet interesting, or see a new gadget I want to get, I think wow, what can this do for me? And then I move on. Technology will keep changing as the world does, and that s how it is always going to be.
