I Believe in Honesty by Daniel Pfeiffer
I believe in being honest. While it sounds simple enough, so many people struggle with it. There is really no need to tell a lie but many people do so anyways when being honest is clearly the better option.
In this busy world, it is so easy to lie and fabricate false testimonies so thick that even the creator of such lies thinks it to be true. However, dishonesty takes many forms. Whether it is asking to "borrow" a friend's assignment or lying on the witness stand, being honest is surely not being condoned.
As the saying goes, honesty is indeed the best policy. I remember being a child and having my mother tell me that if I did something wrong, then tell her because she'd rather have me be honest than to lie. It was a great lesson to learn.
Honesty is also needed when on the job. Lying to your employer definitely won't help you keep your job. It is best to be honest and to accept whatever consequence results. Being honest with your employer is a step in the right direction for building a good reputation.
Being honest is a trait that most people look for when making friends. Honesty is a standard that friends expect from each other. By being honest, you find yourself with even more friends.
Dishonesty destroys friendships. Friends want someone who they can confide their secrets in. If you aren't honest with your friends, then they will not be honest with you - considering if they still even think of you as their friend.
Whether at home, school, or work, honesty is important. People would much rather hear the truth than some lie that you made up. This is why I believe that being honest is definitely the best policy.
