I Believe in Weightlifting by Matthew Simonsen
I believe in weightlifting. There are three major reasons why I believe in weightlifting. There are benefits that you obtain from doing this activity. The following reasons will be explained in great depth and these are as follows: better self-esteem, making friends, bigger muscles, learn to be organized, work ethics.
Let's take for an example, you are walking down the street and you have never worked out in your entire life, so you are relatively skinny. You see this pretty girl and she is with a jock from school. You wish to talk to this girl but the man that is with her is intimidating you. Now, if you were a regular weightlifter, even if you are not as big as you want to be, you would still have the confidence of talking to this girl. If it is awkward between you and this jock you can always bring up weightlifting. You can ask him how much can he bench press or squat and so on. This is a great way to make friends as well!
For some reason, whenever people step into a weight room, it is because they want to see themselves shed the weight or gain muscle mass. I know when I'm in the weight room; I want to see myself getting bigger. You also learn how to be organized. The way you learn to be organized is when you walk into the room, you need a plan. First, you need plan to out the work and then work the plan! For example, if you don't know what you are going to do in the weight room, then you won't get much done. This is why you need a plan.
The final reason I believe in weight lifting is because you develop a strong work ethic. You learn this by deciding to work out. Let's say for example that you want to get bigger and be stronger. You will need to have good work ethics. If you don't, how can you get these goal accomplished? Lifting weights is also good for when you get a job, simply because when you are going to lift weights you only have 90 minutes. You want to be there on time. This will help you when you get a job, because your boss will like you more and more if you're on time every day and demonstrate responsibility.
In conclusion, I have covered all of the main benefits of weight lifting ranging from getting bigger muscles to work ethic. Some of these observations have come from my lifting weight for two years and some of this has come from my teachers. Hopefully, this essay has changed or encouraged you to try hard or harder when in the weight room. I believe in weightlifting!
