I Believe in Work Ethic by Andrew Sorsen
It really doesn't matter what you are doing. Every job or project done anywhere in the world requires one common ingredient. This ingredient is work. Without work and a good work ethic nothing would ever be completed. I believe in work ethic. One thing that really annoys me is when people don't have a good work ethic. People just ask questions or give up when they are confronted with a problem. If everyone acted like this all of the time nothing would ever be completed. Every great person in history had to do some work to get where they got.
Do you think that Andrew Carnegie, a poor immigrant boy, became a rich monopolist in the steel industry without work? No, he worked for everything he ever received. Almost every entrepreneur in the history of the world worked hard to become rich and successful. One of the richest men in the world is Bill Gates. Gates dropped out of college to work and produce something he believed in and enjoyed. Microsoft didn t become a multibillion dollar organization over night. Gates slaved away for years to make the extremely profitable business that he has now. Steve Jobs, the creator of Apple, is another great example. He too dropped out of college to work. He lived on the floor of his friend's dorm room for a year when he first started his path to greatness. From then on he worked hard to make Apple the company that it is today.
This ideal of hard work is not just something that entrepreneurs share. Many other people who have had success owe it all to hard work. A great example of this is our president-elect Barack Obama. Obama didn't have a great life. He never really knew his father. His mother died in the mid-1990s. His grandmother, an important person in his life, died this year. By and large he was a normal American. His work ethic got him all the way to the presidency. He worked himself through Columbia and Harvard, two Ivy League schools. He worked his way into Congress. His work ethic got him through the presidential campaign and into the White House. He never once had anything handed to him. His success depended on himself, his desire to be successful, and his willingness to work for it. This is how it is for many Americans. If you want to be successful you are going to have to find a way to do it. This will require work. It will test your patience. If you have the willingness to do what has to be done to be successful you will be successful. Everyone has dreams. Everyone wants them to come true, but unless they work hard those dreams will stay dreams.
Most successful people don't have a great life before they become successes. This teaches them to work hard. This hard work pays off in the end. If only everyone in the world could learn this lesson. Many of us have great lives right now. We were never a poor immigrant or a lower class citizen. We don't know what hard work really is and I wish everyone did. Overall, everyone hopes to be great, but only the people that know how to work hard will ever reach this level of greatness.
