I Believe in Dancing by Brittany Baumbach

Can you remember something that you liked when you were little, that you still find joy in today? Odds are you probably answered no to this question, for example I loved Barbies but today I could probably live without them and not notice. I have been dancing at Shelly's School of Dance ever since i was in Kindergarten and I am almost positive that I won't be stopping anytime soon. I believe in dancing.

Dancing is a way to express yourself without having to use words. For a person who is shy it's a way to show what they are feeling inside. Every movement of every dance has something more behind it. It's whether the person watching chooses to figure out what that is or not. It can show happiness, pain, sadness, love, excitement and many other emotions. It can also be expressed in how fast the music is in the dance or the posture the person doing the dance has.

Many people don't know how much work is actually put into dancing. You may not be in shape to run a marathon but bring a football player into the ballet room and you will have them falling to their knees in ten minutes. Dancer's have muscles that other sports don't use. In ballet you have to hold your foot pointed at all times and your posture must always be perfect. Everyone in the dance has to match, if one person is off it throws of the dance. In Jazz you have to have speed so you can turn and move to the ground without missing a beat. Pointe is one of the hardest types of dancing because when you go up on your toes you have to make sure that your foot is pointed because if you slip you could end up twisting your ankle.

In order to be the best dancer possible you have to listen to your instructor, which doesn't always come easy. This has been a big learning experience for me because I don't thik that I would have the ability to pay attention if I had never been in Dance classes. Dancing teaches you things you can apply to your daily life. I know that my parents wouldn't let me dance if I didn't keep my grades up so I take that and use it as a motivator to do well. It teaches skills that adults appreciate like how to listen and follow directions.

Throughout the years I have met some of my best friends in my dance classes. I also have many memories that I will not forget. I know when I look back I won't regret dancing. Even if yven't been in classes like me, I hope you realize how important dancing is and how much joy it can bring to your life. So next time you are home alone and your feeling sad, dance around the room a little bit and see how much better you feel! I believe in dncing.
