I Believe in Running by Ethan Damman

Olympic Runner Steve Prefontaine once said, To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift . Whether you are running for competition, health, or for fun you can feel the effects of running good & bad. I believe in running.

Running allows you to think, relive stress, and condition your body. That's why I love running, When you are beginning a long run, you first think, O man why am I doing this? but then once you break through that barrier and you begin to think about anything, and your stress simply goes away. For me when this happens I get in my own little world. My imagination becomes over-active and I feel like I could run forever. Many people have experiences similar to this young and old. Running has been around for almost 3000 years and is even in the bible. I believe in running.

When you run whether it's track or cross country you have small voices in your head, one saying Just slow down you are going to fast and one saying Keep going!, Keep going!, You are not done yet! When you listen to the second voice you begin to strengthen yourself mentally and physically. Running can strengthen your mind because it takes a lot of will-power and motivation. You become a better runner by simply running more. The more miles you run the better you get. Many people don't like to run it's too much work or they don't have time. I try to find time because it's awesome. I believe in running.

Many people ask me why I run. A lot of runners answer with satisfaction , competition , runners high . I run for the glorification of God. I feel like God has given us all a gift and a calling on this earth. Jesus died on the cross and washed all of our sins away and to run or do anything to the best of your ability is to glorify his name. By running I can spread the word of God. People become inspired by what some people do and I want people to be inspired by me and how God works through me and become closer to God. Without God I couldn't run an inch. He gave me everything. When I run God works through me without that I could not run to the best of my ability. Jesus is my motivation. I believe in running.

I believe in running, the guts of it, the determination it takes, and the effect that Jesus has on it. Olympic Gold medalist Jesse Owen once said, We all have dreams, but in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort . This quote reflects what you need in order to become a successful runner, Christian, or anything. Running practices these principles. I believe in running.
