I Believe in Video Games by Dallas Janousek

I believe in video games. Video games in modern day are getting a bad wrap because youth violence and crimes are said to imitate the violence in the games. This is a common complaint that is not true, many videogames get there ideas from books and movies or other media sources. There is also statements that say video games are causing crime to increase this is a false statement, if you look at crime rates since videogames were released they have done the exact opposite and have decreased.

Video games take the violent tendencies that a person may have and releases them in the blood, guts, and gore of a good first person shooter or a Role Playing Game (RPG). Thus there is a decreasing in the violence of school bullying, and other violent acts related to teens. The common misconception about gamers in America is that teens are the majority of the population is teens that play games but in fact it's the ages of 18 to 30 that carry the majority of the game playing. Yes there are some games that involve drug use and alcohol use, but they don't involve underage use of these substances and in most cases are not necessary for the story line.

I believe that the gamers of America are being singled out and forced a bad name because they enjoy letting go and having some fun. If parents complain about there children playing the mature games then there is a simple solution, Parents don't be stupid and buy the children the games in the first place. The back of the video game box states that the game is rated E-A, and explains why they are rated so.

I, myself, am a gamer and am standing up for the rights of others to shoot their hearts out. So please the next time your parents say I do not think that is appropriate for someone your age, simply reply with well next time look at the ratings on the game before you buy it. That will solve the problem immediately.
