I Believe in Colors by Mikayla Knudsen

Look around you, you'll see bright shades of red, yellow, green, shadows in black, cool shades of blue and purple. Most people pick things out becuase they are most appealing to our eyes or they stand out due to the fact they have color or our preference. I believe in colors.

The autumn wouldn't be autumn without the red, yellow and orange leaves. Spring wouldn't be spring without the multi-pigmented flowers spread throughout. The blue sky, bright yellow sun, the green grass all about and the luminous moon on those summer nights that just glows illuminating different tints of shadows. Many people associate colors with different things in their life, we use them all the time. For holidays we see pink and red all over for Valentine's Day, green for St. Patrick's Day, and lets not forget orange and black for Halloween.

We relate colors with our emotions because our brain is "programmed" to draw the connection because of hormones that are send out when we see them. Red symbolizes anger, blue is sadness, and yellow triggers hormones in the brain that are supposed to make you happy. Purple indicates something dignified of majestic. The color that relaxes us most is green, but at the same time it is associated with envy.

Also there are people who can smell colors, I'm not saying connecting smell to color, I mean actually smelling a color that they are seeing with their eyes. Scientists say that it is real, and it's called Synaethesia. This is when people can either smell or hear colors due to a mix up in their nervous system and their senses.

Colors brighten our world. Our days wouldn't be the same without the different hues surrounding us. Now realize how important they are and appreciate what you are seeing. This is why I believe in colors.
