I Believe in Heroes by Monica Miller

Sometimes we need someone we can look up too, a person that to us has no flaws. Someone who does not only change their lives, but changes ours as well. I have met many people who have taken it upon themselves to change lives. People who have never won a Grammy or climbed a mountain, they have never saved someone from a burning building or made a touchdown, but they have down something else. They have showed us who anyone can be if they just believe.

My brother has been one of these people who have changed a life. The life that he changed was mine. I know that he has said some hurtful things to me, but he has also been completely honest. He tells me what he thinks and how he feels, but things going on at home or school. He may at time be very secretive, but he can also be very open. He plans on saving lives and changing the world. You might ask well how he can do something so big; well he wants to become a police officer. Not just for the cool toys and the well to do checks, but to save lives, just like he saved mine. You may ask how he saved my life, well that's easy he made me believe that I could push through even toughest of times.

My mother is an even better example of a life changing person. When I was young I had an eating disorder and no matter how much I would fight her about eating she would stand by me and make sure that I would eat because that's how much she loved me. She wanted me to survive and live a normal life. She gave up so much for the good of the family and never once asked for something in return.

You can even look upon yourself for guidance. Learn from your mistakes, and change your life. I know there will be some hard times in your life, but you have to fight through them. If you just stand by and watch your life slip away you will wake up one day with absolutely nothing. No one to love you, no one you can love, just an empty room with nothing, but white walls. If you improve yourself and show everyone the good example you are, people will change and see you as the reason for it.

Everything I've talked to you about is what I trust in and what I know in my gut is the truth. You don't have to be a police officer or a fireman to be looked upon as an example of a hero. A hero could be your average, everyday kind of person. My heroes are the ones that have changed my life and made me into a better person. They are the ones that I will always remember and never forget. All you need to do is look inside yourself because anyone one of us could be a heroes. Knowing that a person can walk into a room and do something extraordinary to change another's life reminds me everyday why I believe in heroes.
