I Believe in Architecture by Micah Storjohn
It's your home, It's your furniture, and it is all around you. Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and other physiacl structure. Architecture is something you see everyday ever though it is changing everyday. I believe in architecture.
Today we are going to go over why I like architecture, the styles of architecture, and modern day architecture. I like architecture because the styles of it are diffreent and interesting to see. the different sizes and the different shapes of them interest me how they are able to with stand what they do. Today some of the most known things are buildings or mile stones that we made in the earlier centuries. Also I like what these things are made of and the different materials used to make them. The buildings we probable know best are the Sydney Opera House, Taj Mahal, and the World Trade center.
There are vast majorities of styles of architecture these styles relay on the time they werew made. Futurist architecture is one type of architecture. It began as an early 209th century form of architecture characterized by anti-historicism and long horizontal lines suggesting speed, motion and urgency. Technology and even violence were among the themes of the futurist. In the post WWII era, futurism, toned down considerable, redefined itself in the contrext of space agetrends and the car culture. An example of this type of futurism is Googie architecture of 1950s California. Futurism is not a style but an open approach to architecture so it has been reinterpreted by different generations of architects across several decades, but it is usually marked by striking shapes, dynamic lines, and use of advanced materials. Googie is a form of novelty architecture. It is influenced by cars, space, and atomic ages. The most common types of googie buildings are bowling allies, motels, and coffee shops.
Modern day architecure is driven by technological and engineering developments. Some say that today's homes are rectangular and dehumanizing. During the middle of the century, some architects began experimenting in organic forms that they felt were more human and accessible. Modern residences tend to focus on humanizing the otherwise harsh ideal, making them more livable and ultimately more appealing to real people. Many of these designs use a similar tactic, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor spaces. This is achieved by embrazing "the box" while at the same time dissolving it into the background with minimal structure and large glass walls.
In concliusion today we went over why I like architecture, the styles, and modern day architecture. I like my house and I believe in architecture.
