I Believe in Ethanol by Wendell Bryan Watson IV

What's renewable, made in Nebraska as well as other states and smells like French fries when burnt? You guessed it, it's ethanol. In the next few minutes I'm going to tell you about the efficiency of ethanol, how it affects the economy and why it should be used.

The use of ethanol is a great way to help preserve our environment. More and more people are using it on a daily basis. According to Wikipedia/fuel price comparison, when unleaded gasoline is $2.79, ethanol is around $2.07. Using ethanol in your vehicle is a great way to help preserve your engine and clean it out. It has chemicals that clean the cylinders and fuel system of sludge and other harmful things. Ethanol is not good to use if you are looking to acquire great gas mileage. If your vehicle gets 30 miles to the gallon with unleaded gasoline, it will get around 20 miles to the gallon with ethanol. On the flip side, the cheap costs out ways the terrible fuel mileage.

Producing and using ethanol is a great way to help boost the economy. When plants are built to convert corn into ethanol, it takes many people to help run the plant. The production of corn also helps farmers out because it demands so much more corn out of American farmers. The production of ethanol is not a once a year sort of job. This creates permanent jobs for U.S citizens. With more people working, the better off the economy is. Producing ethanol does not just give farmers and the people running the ethanol plants jobs, it also gives many truck drivers more loads to deliver on a daily basis. I've spoken to a driver that said he delivered to a plant that set a record last week for consuming over 600 loads of corn in a single day. Another downside to ethanol besides getting terrible gas mileage is that it raises food prices with everything to do with corn. This is because ethanol plants are taking away from the corn supply used to make food products.

I believe ethanol should be used because it helps the economy substantially, it gives many more people jobs and it helps keep more Nebraskans busy. The biggest reason it should be used is because it helps protect the environment and doesn t continue to burn up our atmosphere.

Today I have informed you why I believe in ethanol. I believe in ethanol because it's efficient, it affects the economy in a positive way, and it is a great thing to use. I believe in ethanol.
