I Believe in Family by Marissa Wergin

The people in your life help make you who you are. Your family is a main contributor to who you are because they are in your life and you can't choose them. This is one of the reasons I believe in family.

Friends may come and go, but your family will always love you and be there for you. Your family will be there through your ups and downs, your accomplishments, when you are upset, and even when you want to have fun. Unlike friends, your family won't leave you when you do something wrong and are always there to pick you up.

To me, family is more than my parents and my sister. My family includes my dog, grandparents, uncles, aunts, fifteen first cousins, and too many to count second cousins, birthparents, great uncles and aunts, and even my best friends and her family. I may not see these people all the time, but I love them and would never change any of them. Some people look at family in a traditional way such as, a family including their parent's siblings, if any, and grandparents. My view on family is a little different than others. I love being surrounded by a big family because there is always something going on and never a dull moment.

Another reason family is important to me, is traditions and values. My Wergin side is completely different than my Danekas side. The Wergins are very loud, a who cares attitude, competitive, and there are many of us. The Danekas side is more conservative, very opinionated, and are very small in number. Still, both sides take holidays very seriously and love spending time with one another.

In conclusion, I believe in family because the relationship you have with a family member could be the longest relationship of your life. In the words of my Grandpa Harold, How could a guy so stupid end up with five boys so smart? I know under his sarcasm he was so proud of having such a great family and I feel the same way. I believe in family.
