I Believe in Miracles by Wyatt Dybdal

I have been through some hard times in my life, but the most difficult has been living with a brother that is battling cancer. My younger brother, Levi, came down with ALL Leukemia when he was in third grade. We have only recently begun to finish with his treatment. I believe in miracles.

I believe in miracles, because my brother is a living miracle. He has beaten the odds. Not all people with cancer live. Even with all of our medical advancements, sometimes doctors can do nothing more but ease the passing.

I also believe in miracles because of my brother Eric. He is now six months old. I see the arrival of a new baby as a miracle. How is it that a couple of cells become a living person? It is unable to be proven scientifically, it just is.

Medicine is also a miracle. Years ago, simple illnesses such as the flu killed many. Medicine is now common and the flu is a simple task to take care of. Medicine saved my brother's life. If that is not a miracle, I don't know what is.

Many people believe that miracles are simply stories. Jesus preformed many miracles, so some see miracles as something only God can do.

I say that miracles are everywhere. We see them all around us. A baby animal or person, a child learning to walk, a life threatening disease beaten, all of these are miracles.

I believe in miracles, none of which are common, as all are "uncommon" and unique. I also believe that miracle are only few and far between, because we as human beings choose to over look the "everyday" miracles. Miracles are everywhere; we just have to watch for the extraordinary, within the ordinary. I believe in miracles.
