I Believe in Softball by Cheyenne Hallberg
I believe in softball, because without some kind of sport teenagers wouldn't have anything to stride towards. Sports are important to me because if I have something to work for then my grades are higher and I know that I have to work for something that I enjoy doing. Softball would have to be my favorite sport to compete in considering I grew up playing softball and my weekends in the summer are taken up by softball tournaments. I believe in softball.
Growing up I always enjoyed sports I played basically any sport that was available to the age group that I was in. Starting with dance, I then began to compete in soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and softball. Softball, soccer and dance started when I was in kindergarten, dance and soccer then continued until seventh grade when I stopped because I wanted to focus on softball. Basketball, volleyball and track began in seventh grade and continued until the end of eighth grade. Once I did move up to the high school all of the sports stopped, because I basically only wanted to play softball.
Softball then began to become more competitive and time demanding. I am young for my age group, but that still doesn't affect the way that I perform. I have no free weekends in the summer and my weeks consist of one or two days that don't involve softball. Softball is basically my life and the fact that I don't have much free time doesn't affect me as much as it would most other people. The way that I handle a challenge may be different than others but when I receive a challenge I take it and make the best out of it. I now play third base and center field which is a weird combination but I understand what my job is at both positions.
During the school year softball has helped my grades become higher and more consistent. Everyone has things that they enjoy doing, whether it is a sport or not it is something that they can look forward to at the end of the day. Softball has played a big role in my life. I then started to compete at age seven, in the nine and under division for fast pitch softball and softball then became my summers. The way that softball takes up a lot of my time probably affects my family and friends just as much as it affects me. I know how to manage the little time I do get.
Therefore softball is more of a lifestyle to my family and I and requires much of effort, time and money. I believe in softball because it helps me succeed in school and helps me know that I have to work in order to achieve my goals. Softball may take up some of my time but that is a small price to pay when it comes to doing something that I enjoy doing. Softball is something that I do believe helps me and I also do believe that sports will help others achieve their goals. I believe in softball.
