I Believe in Basketball by Jordan Nelson

Basketball is my favorite sport. I believe in basketball, because it's my favorite sport. Actually basketball is kind of my life. It's a huge part of my life. It's important because it teaches you life skills, good sportsmanship, and helps you make new friends. I believe in basketball.

First, how does basketball teach you life skills? You learn time management. Because you have to manage homework, family, and friends around practice and games. It also teaches people to team players and how to bond with others. The teams that work well together and have good team chemistry are typically the better teams. The teams that build each other up when their losing have a better chance of winning then those teams that have the girls yelling at each other when their down. All this is going to do is piss more people other than make anything better. Learning how to work together and how to build team chemistry will help you in the future in you work place. The last thing you want to do is have your dream job, but make no friends there and be miserable the whole time.

Next, how does basketball help you have good sportsmanship? It all comes from the coaching staff. Here our coaching staff does not tolerate any kind of negative actions during practice and games. This includes no swearing, of any kind. Our coaches are very much Christian and you better not use His name in vain, that's a big no-no. They preach to us that you don't win by whining in a game so don't even try doing it. Also don't argue with the refs, because if it's worth arguing about they will for sure talk to the refs about it. Also if you get too out of hand, the refs can throw a technical foul or even kick you out. This goes for everyone, coaches, players, and even fans and spectators. Our coaching staff and administration stresses good sportsmanship so much that we have wont eh sportsmanship award two years in a row. That is pretty awesome.

Lastly, how does basketball help you make new friends? Well as I said earlier, you bond with your teammates and their families, so there's quite a few friends right there. Plus the coaching staff. Me, personally are really close with the coaches. They call me to do favors and I talk to them regularly. Or you could be on a summer team, and make loads of friends there, whether you're playing with them or against them. Sometimes when I'm playing against certain people we will talk and make jokes with each other, even though we are on different teams. And being on more than one team in more than one sport will present you with more people to be friends with. These friends can make your time playing even more enjoyable.

In conclusion, I have showed you how and why I believe in basketball. It's my life and my passion playing basketball. Now you see why I believe in basketball.
