I Believe in the Power of Expression by Allison Brandt

I believe in the power of expression. Every action in life has some reaction to it. Expressions are a way for people to release what they feel. They can make us appear happy, sad or even angry. Everyone has an expression for everything in life. It just depends on how others perceive those expressions that can reflect on our personalities.

We all have an expression for every action in life. Something funny happens and we burst out laughing. A big smile stretches across our faces and we appear as happy as can be. Expressions also appear on our faces when something terrible happens. We may be shocked or scared. People may even begin to cry. Whatever happens in life, an expression is the way to show how we feel. Expressions are exactly what they sound like. They are a way for us to show what we feel in the best possible way. We can not really plan the expression we are going to have unless we know what is coming before it happens. Expressions are a surprise waiting to pop from our faces. We may not even know the expressions that come from our faces unless they are caught on camera by someone else. That is sometimes half the fun of expressions. Not knowing what can happen is an surprise even to us. We can catch other people off guard which makes watching their expressions just as fun.

Expressions also help to set our personalities. Our expressions help to let others know what kind of people we are. I know I always watch to see how my friends react to stories I tell them. When I see how they react, it helps me to know what kind of people they are. Sure they can say whatever they want, but I feel that their expressions really tell the true story. Expressions never lie. They are not something that you can just take away. Of course we can try and hide them so no one can see, but almost always someone catches what we do. Expressions themselves can tell a story. I think we all get stuck, when someone is telling a story, that we watch their faces. When someone tells a story that they don t like so much, their expression is something of boredom. If it is a funny story they smile most of the time or maybe even laugh while telling it. That part I love. It makes me laugh also and then you know that they may have good humor. Expressions are a big part of acting. Actors must have big expressions in order to get their lines across. They are the only thing that really help tell the story of the play. If an actor were to go up on stage and just talk their lines, it wouldn t make much sense. Expression has to be put behind every single word.

Actors are not the only ones that need to have expressions in their words. Musicians also show a lot of expression. So many songs are written from the hearts of the musicians themselves or for the hearts of others. If a musician put no heart or expression behind their songs, then the songs would have no meaning to others. Expressions can be said through words of songs or stories. They can also be said by the looks on our faces. Our expressions help tell a story about us.

Expressions are a strong part of our lives. They let us show and tell how we feel. We use them everyday whether we think we are or not. Expressions are a way for us to let loose and have a good time. I believe in the power of expression.
