Passion by Savannah Lohmeier

I believe in passion. Have you ever been part of a team or group that does not care about the outcome of the game or competition? For example, you are part of the basketball team and half of your teammates could care less whether you win or lose, because they are just out for their social life after school. Or sitting in music and your director continues to tell your choir to feel the words and sing with authority; however, most kids do not care about music. They are just took the class for an easy grade or because their friends are in that class. At times like these, the people with strong passions need to step up and show their love for the activity, because it will soon rub off onto others. Still though, my question is why do people not care? I would assume this is because many people have absolutely no passion for anything in their lives, and to change their actions we, passionate people, whose hearts are full of passion need to influence them.

Some might say they have a passion for volleyball, and they just love it so much they would give anything up just so they could play volleyball. For instance, the week before Districts, all of your friends are partying and drinking; however, you decide not to go with your friends because you love volleyball so much. Now that is passion. As a player of that team, it is contagious to see your teammate not drink, because that player begins to inspire you and the rest of your team to do the same. When someone has passion for something, it's one hundred and ten percent all for that awesome thing, not eighty, not ninety, not even one hundred; but one hundred and ten percent with no questions asked. I find it awesome to look at people and be able to see how much passion they love for what they are doing in their lives.

My passion throughout all my life has been basketball. I love basketball, and I would do anything in the world to do my best and be a great player. When I play you could see the passion in my eyes and actions. What is passion? Passion is not something that is rehearsed or practiced and a coach cannot make you passionate for something; it simply comes from the heart. It is an outburst of emotion and showing great enthusiasm for something you love. That feeling of passion sends chills through your body, and that one moment can create an essence of happiness.

Passion is when making a basket at a close game feels so good you cannot help but pump your fist. Passion is scoring the winning touchdown and throwing your hands in the air thanking the whole world for that one play. Passion is waking up in the morning and singing just because you love singing so much. Passion is sprinting the last stretch of the two mile in track only because you want that feeling of intense emotion to flow through your body because you are number one.

Passion comes in all shapes and sizes, but that feeling can never be replaced. My name is Savannah Sloane Lohmeier, and I believe in passion. Now the question is do you?
