The Purpose to Life by Megan Stahly

I believe that everyone needs to find their purpose in life. Many people in our world today go through life questioning who they are and why they are here. They do not know that they have been created by a God who loves them and has made them for a certain purpose. I believe that this is why countless people become violent or depressed because they do not care about their lives or understand why they are living. They do not value anyone else's lives either because they think that if they are not happy then no one else deserves to be. Part of not understanding our purpose in life is letting others decide what we want to be for us.

So often we do not act like the person that we really are because of the pressures that others force on us. Our personalities change and our attitude toward others becomes negative. People become very confused with whom they are supposed to be and they continue to let others make decisions for them. I have been told by my mom, sister, and many other people that I would make a great teacher, but if this is not something that I would enjoy doing then I need to decide that for myself. Finding out what we would benefit from and are good at is very important in figuring out our purpose in life. By not letting others control us, we are making our way to what I see as our ultimate purpose in life.

To me, our ultimate purpose in life is serving God in everything that we say and do. Since God has created us, we need to honor him with the lives he has given us. As a Christian, earth is only my temporary home until I die and am taken to my heavenly home. While on earth, though, we need to respect what God has given us and be good stewards. Using money wisely and helping others who are less fortunate are both ways that we can honor God. We need to take care of what we have and not complain over what we do not have. We have been blessed in so many ways, and we need to give thanks for all of the gifts that God has given us. The biggest way in which we need to serve God is by sharing our faith with others who do not believe.

God has called us to bring others to Christ and by ignoring this command we are not honoring God and serving our purpose in life. God sent his son to earth as an atoning sacrifice. He died on the cross for all of our sins so that we would not have to die and that we could have eternal life in him. A great majority of people in this world do not know Christ as their personal Savior and without someone to tell them, they may never know the truth. People who are not saved are going to hell when they die, and it is our job to make sure that they know how to be saved so they can make the most important decision of their lives. By finding our purpose in life, we can help others find their own purpose by bringing them to Christ.

In order to completely fulfill our purpose in life, we cannot do anything that is contrary to what God has commanded us. Romans 2 says, Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is his good, pleasing and perfect will. God has a plan for our lives and it is how we choose to live our lives that will help us fulfill the purpose that God has given us.
