Blood by Brett M. Troyer

I believe in the power of blood. Yes, that oxygen carrying, life giving, red liquid that we all call blood. Blood affects our everyday lives in so many ways and is so powerful. This power is what I believe in, not just the blood itself because everyone believes in blood, but the power that blood has in many aspects of our lives.

The most common power of blood is seen in everyday life when a person obtains a small injury. These small injuries are where, as a child, we first come to realize the power of blood. A small child may fall down while running and not cry until he sees the blood coming from his hands. This power of blood is in the mental aspect of life, and has a great amount of power. An example of this power from my own life is when I cut my leg at work a few years ago. At first the cut felt like a simple scrape on my leg, so I was not worried. I decided to look at the cut to see what it looked like, which is when I saw the blood trickling down my leg. I instantly began to feel pain in my leg and I became lightheaded. I received sixteen stitches in my leg because of the cut, but the point of the story is, that my leg did not hurt until I became aware of the fact that I was bleeding. I am sure that this cut probably would not have began hurting if I had not looked at it, but the fact that I saw blood made me leg hurt. This power of blood is one that, at some time, every person has come to know.

Blood keeps us alive. Every breath we take would be absolutely worthless without our blood. The blood carries oxygen to every part of our bodies, allowing the organs to receive oxygen and perform their duties properly. The power of blood in this instance is seen not when the blood is flowing to the correct spots, of course we can see its power there also, but blood's power is seen when it stops flowing. Almost every person knows someone that has had a heart attack or stroke. Now some of these people were lucky enough to live through these situations, others were not. The power of blood has a profound effect on my life because my grandpa died of a sudden heart attack while visiting some relatives, and because of this first hand experience with blood's life taking power, I believe strongly in blood's power.

Blood holds extreme power in the physical world, but this power is nothing compared to the power blood holds in the spiritual world. The blood shed by Jesus while he was crucified on the cross carries an enormous amount of power. By this blood, we as a human race can be cleansed of our sins, and through the blood shed our sins are not only forgiven but forgotten forever. When washed in the blood of Jesus, we are completely cleansed; we are made as white as snow. This blood cleanses us so we can be seen as righteous in the eyes of our Almighty God. The cleansing of this blood allows us to know, if we believe, that, after death, we can go on to live forever with God our Father in heaven. I personally cannot wait to be able to look upon the eyes of my heavenly father and to see the face of my Savior, Jesus. I cannot wait to see what heaven actually looks like and to meet with those loved ones that have gone on before me, such as my grandpa. Since Jesus died for all people, I want to tell everyone possible about the power of blood.
